January – Back on WordPress
With clients and marketers that I collaborate primarily seeking a WordPress-built sites, it was right for me to focus 100% on building all new sites in 2018 on WordPress. It’s great to be back on WordPress using the latest tools, hosting and security standards to build beautiful, fast, and robust sites for my clients.
February – Touring Southeast Asia
On 1st February, I set off for a 6 week tour of Southeast Asia, taking in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. This was my chance to relax, catch up with friends, celebrate Chinese New Year in style and see – what felt like – a million temples. (Oh, that cover photo for this post, that was taken at Angkor Wat in Cambodia)
March – Discovering Flywheel
Not all hosting companies are made equal. Flywheel is a Managed WordPress hosting company who happen to be insanely awesome. Because they only host WordPress sites, so their hosting is tuned to run WordPress sites super fast, and all the security and backups are handled at server level, meaning I can sleep easy knowing all my clients sites are humming along nicely.
April – Moved email to G-suite
May – Helping my clients navigate GDPR
June – Helping my clients get HTTPS
July – Hosting Setup + Billing transfer
August – Working with Welwyn Hatfield Council
September – My first Creative Collaboration – Dassardo Design
October – A better way for clients to manage their sites
November – Customisation taking to a new level
The designer in me wants to be able to create the exact look and feel without limitations. With a new lightweight theme – Astra – which is designed to work perfectly with Elementor, this allows me to create any layout, exactly how I’d like for my clients. Alongside that, I started to use tools that allow for custom development, so that for clients who want extended content functionality, they can now have it.
December – Planning for 2019
As the 2018 closed out, I connected with other professionals to plan out some workshops we will be delivering in 2019 supported by Welwyn Hatfield Council and Barclays.
